The core influence of my work originates from an interest
in civilizations’ inherent fascination with visual beauty and
perfection; the desire to ‘distil the eternal from the
transitory’.
The pieces explore the classic proportions of ideal beauty
with original decorative elaborations. The methodology is
informed by the deconstruction and reconstruction of
diversely sourced images, from the intricacies of sacred
Muslim configurations to the designs of contemporary
couture and culture.
I work in both digital and collagraph print, watercolour,
collage and as a separate project I am currently writing
and illustrating a children’s book featuring cats, arguably
a species which can also inspire ideals and ideas of
beauty and perfection.
